[2] More operating convenience and clearer menu of FRITZ!OS 7.50: The new design of the fritz.box and fritz.powerline user interfaces improves readability The restructured overview page of the FRITZ!Box helps users find their way around even better. A reworked main menu and improved navigation simplify operation. If you want to find out more quickly about how to use the FRITZ! products within the menu, you can get tips and instructions directly from the new online help, including a keyword search. The FRITZ!Box and FRITZ!Powerline user interfaces have been visually refreshed with the new version. Particularly noticeable here is the separation of the menu from the left edge of the screen and the width of the displayed pages have been trimmed for better readability. This has a positive effect on tables and texts, especially when displayed on particularly large screens (resolutions), and at the same time improves the display on smartphones and tablets. The redesign is based on a new style guide that facilitates the integration of innovative operating concepts.

LAN Configuration ###[1] Automatic detection of connection type (connection via Wi-Fi or LAN cable) from FRITZ!OS 7.20 on

If you want to use a FRITZ!Powerline connected to a FRITZ!Box with Mesh via LAN, no further configuration in the user interface is needed. You can simply set this connection type with the push of button:

  • Reset the FRITZ!Powerline to its factory settings (wait about 2 minutes until FRITZ!Powerline has restarted completely, and then press the "Connect" button on FRITZ!Powerline for at least 15 seconds)
  • Use the LAN cable to connect FRITZ!Powerline with the FRITZ!Box and insert FRITZ!Powerline into the outlet.
  • Wait until the ?WLAN? LED on FRITZ!Powerline stops flashing and remains lit up. FRITZ!Powerline automatically configured itself for "LAN bridge" operating mode.
  • Enable FRITZ!Powerline for Mesh: Press the "Connect" button on FRITZ!Powerline, and, within two minutes, the "Connect" button on the FRITZ!Box (for models without a "Connect" button: press "WPS" briefly or "WLAN/WPS" for longer (6 seconds). · FRITZ!Powerline adopts all important settings from the FRITZ!Box, including the Wi-Fi network name and key, and forms a Mesh Wi-Fi with the FRITZ!Box.
  • If you want to switch to a connection from FRITZ!Powerline to the FRITZ!Box via powerline (Powerline bridge) or Wi-Fi (Wireless bridge), establish the desired connection in the "Access to Home Network" menu of the FRITZ!Powerline user interface. Remove the LAN cable.

Enabling the Mesh Function

To check whether a FRITZ! product is enabled for Mesh, see the "Mesh Overview" of the FRITZ!Box (the Mesh Master) under "fritz.box / Home Network / Mesh". Here the products in the Mesh are designated with a corresponding "Mesh active" icon.

A FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Powerline adapter can be enabled for Mesh in various ways:

  • If the FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Powerline adapter has the factory settings configured and is being connected with the FRITZ!Box via WPS for the first time, it will be automatically enabled for Mesh.
  • If the FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Powerline adapter is already connected, but not enabled for Mesh, it is added to the Mesh by pressing a button on the product to be integrated and a button on the FRITZ!Box. On the FRITZ!Box, use the button that initiates WPS: depending on the model, press the "Connect" or "WPS" button briefly, or the "WLAN/WPS" button for 6 seconds
